Unlocking Visual Potential Through Innovation
At our practice, we’re all about being pioneers. We’re committed to learning and innovating, finding new and improved ways to support our patients.
Technology has revolutionized how we diagnose, monitor, and manage eye diseases. These tools are game-changers for vision therapy, neuro-optometry, and sports vision programs. Our eye doctors are here to work closely with you and create personalized programs that address the root causes of your visual challenges.
Our goal is to unlock your full visual potential through targeted exercises, treatments, and technologies. Discover how our technology can enhance your vision and quality of life.
Book AppointmentPioneering Technology
We’re advocates for the benefits technology brings to eye care, from routine eye exams to tailored treatments. Our technology helps us personalize every aspect of your care. Through our dedication to patient education and innovation, you’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to your visual health.
Assessing Your Visual System
At Vision Performance Optometric Center, we understand that maintaining healthy vision involves more than just your eyes. Vision is a complex system intricately connected with your nerves and brain.
That’s why we take a comprehensive approach, considering your visual system as a whole. Our aim is to improve functionality and promote overall wellness.
Regular eye exams are vital for assessing and monitoring your eye health. Whether you’re visiting us for a routine eye exam or vision therapy evaluation, we use technologies to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
Neurolens Eye Alignment
Neurolens is an innovative prism eyeglasses lens that can help alleviate the symptoms of eye misalignment. This technology uses a specialized diagnostic tool to help precisely measure your eye alignment and create a customized lens for your needs.
Beyond addressing misalignment, the diagnostic tool assists in evaluating conditions such as strabismus (eye turn or crossed eyes) and amblyopia (lazy eye) that can impact visual quality.
Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)
A visual evoked potential (VEP) test can measure electrical signals generated by the visual cortex (the part of your brain that processes visual information). This noninvasive test plays a crucial role in diagnosing and monitoring conditions that impact the coordination between your eyes and brain (how you interpret the visual world around you).
From multiple sclerosis and brain trauma to eye diseases like glaucoma, the VEP test helps us detect and manage these conditions.
RightEye Vision System
RightEye Vision System is an eye-tracking technology that can help uncover and track eye moment impairment. With a 5-minute, non-invasive test, we can develop management and treatment strategies to help restore or enhance visual skills impacted by eye diseases, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), or neurological conditions.
Maestro OCT
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to create layered pictures of the retina. This test helps diagnose and monitor conditions like diabetic retinopathy, optic nerve disorders, and macular degeneration.
Before the test, dilating eye drops are used to widen the pupil for a thorough examination of the back of the eye. OCT provides detailed full-color images that depict retinal thickness, blood vessels, and tissue changes.
Visual Field Testing
Visual field testing measures the full range of vision, including peripheral (side) vision, which is crucial for activities like driving or being aware of objects around you.
The Humphrey Visual Field Test is a standardized way to check your peripheral vision. A computer keeps track of how quickly you spot objects and if you happen to miss any. The test can help detect visual field loss, a sign of eye conditions like glaucoma.
Training the Eye-Brain Connection
At our clinic, our focus goes beyond eyesight. We’re dedicated to strengthening visual abilities through personalized treatment programs and innovative technology. Our goal is to empower our patients to unlock the full potential of their vision.
We understand that true quality vision goes beyond just clarity. Whether you’re looking to overcome low vision challenges caused by an eye condition or striving to gain a competitive edge as an athlete, we’re here to elevate your vision experience.
We’re passionate about vision and proud to be pioneers in providing high-quality eye care.
Sanet Vision Integrator (SVI)
The Sanet Vision Integrator (SVI) is a multi-sensory system that uses touch-screen technology to help train a range of visual skills, including eye-hand coordination, cognitive processing, rapid eye movement (saccades), and balance. The SVI system even “speaks” to instruct the user, prompting patients to respond to help improve auditory-visual integration and visual memory. SVI offers a comprehensive approach to improving visual abilities.
SMARTfit
SMARTfit is a gamified dual-tasking neuro-rehabilitation and fitness technology that can enhance cognitive function and physical mobility. By training the brain and body to work seamlessly together, this innovative technology can help improve visual performance for daily activities and help restore lost function.
Additionally, SMARTfit provides a comprehensive baseline test of cognitive capabilities while in motion, allowing patients to gauge their level and track progress.
FITLIGHT Trainer
The FITLIGHT Trainer is a wireless system designed to enhance visual skills, such as reaction time, speed, agility, and coordination. By utilizing RGB LED lights as dynamic targets, the tablet-controlled system can provide immediate performance feedback.
The FITLIGHT’s versatility sets this system apart, with customizable targets catering to diverse training programs, from sports vision to vision therapy.
NeuroTracker
NeuroTracker provides a comprehensive program that can enhance concentration, focus, and peripheral awareness. This immersive technology evolves with your progress, helping to re-train and strengthen the brain-eye connection. NeuroTracker’s versatility makes it an invaluable tool for sports vision and vision therapy, as it can aid in the restoration of lost or underdeveloped visual functions.
Scleral Lenses for Customized, Clear Vision
Scleral contact lenses are an extra-large type of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. Unlike traditional contacts, scleral lenses vault over the entire cornea, leaving a gap between the lens and the surface of your eye. They rest on the white part of your eye (your sclera).
Their unique design makes scleral lenses some of the most comfortable contacts around. They can provide excellent vision for people of all ages.
Scleral lenses can be particularly useful for managing several eye conditions, such as:
- Keratoconus
- Astigmatism
- Dry eyes
- Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC)
- Post-refractive surgery (i.e. LASIK, PRK)
- Presbyopia
We welcome you to call Dr. Kauser Sharieff to discuss your needs and find out whether scleral lenses are right for you.
Advantages of Wearing Scleral Lenses
With scleral lenses, you can experience consistently clear vision even if you have an irregular cornea or dry eyes. Here are some of the benefits scleral lenses can provide:
- Super-size diameter: This helps them stay centered and stable on your eye and prevents them from popping out easily.
- Made from high-quality materials: This helps them last longer.
- Protects against allergies: These contacts help block debris, dust, and allergens.
- Highly breathable: The gas-permeable material helps ensure enough oxygen reaches your eye.
- Lubricating Cushion: They have a pocket that fills with moisturizing tears to support your eye health and comfort.
Sclerals for Keratoconus Treatment
Keratoconus is one of the most common conditions that scleral lenses help address. This condition occurs when the normally round, clear part of the front of the eye, the cornea, begins to thin and bulge into a cone or football-like shape. Keratoconus can severely affect your vision.
Symptoms can include:
- Blurred or distorted vision
- Sudden worsening or clouding of vision
- Increased light sensitivity
Scleral lenses can help with keratoconus by providing a dome-like surface and fluid reservoir over an abnormal cornea, supporting proper refraction for clear vision.
Neurolenses for Computer Vision Syndrome
Neurolens prescription lenses use a contoured prism design to help bring the eyes into alignment. These contoured prism lenses can help relieve the headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and eye strain that many people experience when using digital devices, reading, or doing detailed work.
Reliance on digital devices like your phone or laptop is nothing new, but screen time has made the increased demand on our eyes noticeable. The Neurolens contoured prism design can support your vision and help you maintain your quality of life while you use modern devices for work and leisure.
